Description
According to the UNE 166006:2006 Standard, technology watch is defined as an organised, selective and permanent process of collecting scientific and technological information from the outside and from one's own organisation. The aim is to select, analyse, disseminate, communicate and convert it into knowledge in order to anticipate changes and take decisions with the least amount of risk regarding new products and R&D&I projects and systems. The technology watch manager is responsible for identifying new needs and market trends. As part of the business intelligence department, the technology watch manager must stay ahead of the market through information searches and stay up-to-date with the "state of the art", in other words, the most recent patents and the specialised publications and innovations that arise in the company's sphere of activity. The processing of this information is crucial for taking decisions related to the management of the company's strategies.
