Tooling Technician.

Description

Die makers are responsible for managing the production of dies on the basis of technical specifications given by the die designer. Their role begins with the planning the manufacture of the die and ends with the completed die once accepted by the client. Machining, adjustment and quality control all take place in the middle. Dies are used to stamp metal parts using presses. The type of die can vary significantly based on the type of part that is to be stamped (stamping, moulding, perforation, forming...). On the other hand, there is an important task parallel to manufacturing, involving the introduction of modifications into existing dies, due to the need to make small changes to the parts to be stamped. It is worth noting that die making requires a good knowledge of specific machine tools on the part of the die maker, including, in particular, milling, jig boring and electroerosion machines for the manufacturing process, as well as the presses used to adjust dies. Die makers normally report to the plant manager or industrial manager.
