Specifically, this professional specialises in the detection of crevices, by using penetrative liquids via penetrating and magnetic tools. Measuring instruments, such as software used to locate the parameters of uneven surfaces and produce a detailed and precise analysis have been progressively introduced.

In terms of security, the appearance of crevices in surfaces is a serious and inadmissible problem, as it can affect the ergodunamic functioning of the mechanical behaviour of the piece, or even to modify aircraft characteristics, such as velocity of fatigue. The aircraft construction industry requires uniform surfaces in terms of the established design; consequently, the requirement for surfaces without cracks is of 100%.

The verification of surface quality is undertaken throughout the length of the production process. The objective of this process is to detect flawed pieces that present surface problems as early as possible in the production process and eliminate them from the chain. In this way, the costs of the production process are minimised and the quality of the piece is guaranteed.

• This professional draws up inspection work instructions and elaborates the corresponding control plan.
• Before initiating the treatment of surfaces carries out the inspection of cracks and crevices, based on requirements set by the technical office. In this way, carries out the following checks on the corresponding piece: analyses hardness with the assistance of a durometer; measures the pitted/bumpy texture of the surface using a profilometer and controls the thickness of the layer.
• Lastly, this professional produced reports based on inspections made and depending on results obtained, examined pieces will be validated.
