This professional participates in the development of mechanical projects for long serial production and short production units based on a draft project according to the established rules by ensuring the feasibility of the manufacturing and the quality and security of the defined product.

The main task of CAD drafters is to draw up drawings of sets of pieces or mechanical systems and the corresponding decomposition in 2D drawings based on 3D prototype. The work tool they use is CAD/CAM tool called CATIA, which if the software suite more used in aerospace, automotive and shipbuilding industries. They are responsible for the conception and materialization of the requests expressed by the clients by analysing and defining the operation requirements and the benefits that the product or component necessary for an industrial process must have.

These professionals are responsible for producing a representation of the object to be manufactured. This intermediate stage between conception and manufacture of the product is indispensable in every manufacturing process because the plans provide the visual guidelines for the stages that follow the production of an object or device: they show the technical details of products and structures and specify dimensions and restrictions.

• Draw up moulds and tools for the process of mechanical manufacturing. Provide the technical solution according to the requirements of the customer and design the project.
• Create the 3D model of the project using work tools as CAD/CAM and Software CATIA V.5. Take charge of the definition of views (horizontal floor level and vertical elevations) and parts of the system or 3D components that may be developed.
• Draw up 2D models. In this phase of the process include all the required limitations in order to produce the system or component.
• Carry out the automatization of the production process in order to optimize resources. Manage the quality of the product during the mechanical manufacturing.
• Take charge of the final review and the approval of the project until the delivery to the client.
