Quality specialist technician

Description

These professionals collaborate with client companies on the definition and application of and compliance with quality standards and systems in their processes and products, in order to help the organisation operate as efficiently as possible. Similarly, quality consultants have a multidisciplinary role because, on the one hand, they must be familiar with the specific requirements of the sector to which the client company belongs (the criteria for the application of a quality system will be different in the textiles sector than the automotive sector) and, on the other, they must be able to guide the company towards a management model based on quality criteria.

Tasks

These professionals may be required to apply quality systems in different areas of a company (e.g. logistics processes, procurement and purchases, production, customer service, etc.) and in any economic sector (e.g. the chemical, automotive or metallurgical industries, catering, ICTs, etc.). This diversity means the quality experts must specialise and also means that the tasks they perform may vary. Thus, these professionals:
  • Analyse the company and its environment: organisation, competitive strategy, financial management, indicators and costs.
  • Help define the internal quality standards and consolidate them in specific processes in line with the company's quality policy.
  • Monitor the quality indicators and their progress.
  • Design the system for analysing and controlling the quality of materials, products, facilities, processes, etc.
  • Define the quality standards for products from and processes employed by existing and potential suppliers.
  • Determine the procedures to be followed and draw up and update the company's quality manual in line with the relevant standards.
  • Apply the necessary techniques to guarantee quality within organisations in line with the current standards (e.g. ISO or UNE).
  • Draft reports about the levels of quality achieved and analyse the different indicators: refunds, complaints, refusals, etc.
  • Apply and maintain the quality system.
  • Inspect the finished product to ensure that it complies with current standards.
  • Analyse companies' processes in order to apply improvements.
  • Design audit plans and define the targets to obtaining quality certification.
  • Implement the audit plan.
