Description

Urban solid waste is waste from domestic and commercial sources in cities (rubbish, furniture, old electronic appliances, packaging, organic waste, etc.). These professionals are engineers specialising in industrial processes who are responsible for implementing improvement projects in urban waste treatment plants.

Tasks

  • Analyse waste treatment and subsequent energy production processes (incineration, gasification, pyrolisis and methanisation). Analyse volumes processed, set capacity limits, establish benchmarks for energy production, etc.
  • On the basis of the processes observd, implement improvement projects, starting with the design phase. Determine production targets and needs for new waste processing equipment.
  • Laise with infrastructure and machinery suppliers. Monitor deadlines, costs and quality during the project execution phase.
  • Manage the set-up of the project. Responsible for receiving assemblies and ensuring they are installed properly. They are also responsible for coordinating the different types of equipment (electrical, control systems, mechanical, constructions) to make sure that they work properly with the new machines
