Environmental engineer

Description

The ecosystem design and restoration specialist basically works in two fields: Conduct environmental impact studies at new works and apply corrective measures such as biological corridors, anti-noise barriers, etc.; and is the person responsible for carrying out the physical and biological restoration of deteriorated spaces (reforestations, phytosanitary treatments, repopulation activities, etc). An area can deteriorate as a result of disturbances due to man or natural causes; for example, a mining activity, fire, industrial activity, etc. The ecosystem design and restoration specialist plans the activity and directs its execution.

Tasks

  • Draw up and coordinate projects with the assistance of different specialists with knowledge in natural systems or construction matters.
  • Manage the works for the carrying out of projects drawn up for this purpose.
  • Establish the criteria for the development and maintenance of the planned ecosystems.
  • Act as a consultant with regard to territorial and urban planning projects that have a physical impact on natural systems; in other words, the design of those infrastructures or land uses that affect the environment.
  • Analyse and control the evolution of natural systems that are impacted over time.
