Coastline Technician

Description

They must be able to tackle, handle and solve different environmental issues that are revealed in coastal regions. They must sustainably manage a specific coastal region, which may be developed or not, and normally has a large influx of tourism.

Tasks

  • Coordinate the different services that have an impact on the coastline in a specific territory (cleanliness of beaches, security, surveillance of coastal fishing, management of natural systems, etc.).
  • Uphold relations and perform the inspection and control of companies holding concessions for performing fishing, sailing, tourist activities, etc. Also participate in drafting the conditions for these concessions.
  • Act as spokesperson with the different competent authorities (state, autonomous and local) and individuals affected: concessionaires, interest groups, entities and environmental groups.
  • Oversee and monitor the quality levels of coastal systems, taking different variables and indicators into account.
  • Coordinate an expert interdisciplinary team to develop concrete projects and actions.
  • Provide information to administrations and individuals.
  • Write regular reports on the status of environmental quality levels, social uses and financial yields of the coastal region in question.
