Child education specialist

Description

The child educator is that professional that plans, carries out and assesses early childhood care programmes, applying teaching and learning methods that promote the development of personal autonomy and expression and communication skills in children between 0 and 6 years of age.

Tasks

  • Plan and assess the educational and childcare processes together with the intervention team.
Define the objectives of the intervention with regard to the areas of identity and personal, physical and social autonomy, as well as expression and communication, taking into account the children's characteristics.
Select the intervention strategies and the activities to be carried out based on the set objectives and planned resources.
Collect and process information on the child and their environment (medical, educational, social welfare information, etc.) in order to determine their level of development and characteristics.
Prepare and lead the activities aimed at collaborating with the families in order to facilitate their integration and participation in the child's development.
Coordinate with other professionals of the institution in order to reach the goals established in the educational project and evaluates the adequacy of the programme together with others.
Elaborate the evaluation documentation of the children and sends them to their tutors.
  • Prepare, carry out and assess formal and informal educational projects.
    Prepare and supervise the teaching materials (related to expression and representation, pictures and audiovisual elements, games and toys, science and recreation, nature, etc.) and the spaces in which the activity takes place, according to the established programme and adapting them to the type of activity.
Carry out child education activities based on the established programme, paying attention to the individual children and the group in order to develop their skills.
Apply assessment techniques and procedures in order to evaluate the carrying out of programmes and activities of formal and informal education.
Apply games and lúdic metodology in order to encourage creativity, initiative, discipline and proper relationships between the children.
  • Prepare and carry out activities aimed at the development of autonomy habits and attention to basic needs.
    Prepare and supervise the spaces and materials of the activity, in accordance with current legislation.
Carry out activities aimed at meeting basic needs and forming habits related to diet, cleanliness and hygiene, rest and sleep, the use and care of personal belongings and outdoor activities.
Act in conflict situations related to the development of autonomy skills, following where applicable the guidance received from the appropriate professionals.
Apply assessment techniques and procedures in order to evaluate physical and mental well-being and the obtainment of autonomy skills in the assigned children.
Apply the knowledge about medical assistance to take care of children in case of illness.
