Theatre teachers educate and train students in the interpretative arts. They can work with individuals or with groups of all ages. Teachers can work in professional or amateur theatre companies, in continuing education universities or centres, in community centres, etc. They can train future actors/actresses or teach acting techniques as a form of recreation or therapy. Theatre teachers can also be the artistic directors of a company.

• Work hours

  The work day of theatre teachers working at specialised institutes, universities or community centres is usually Monday to Friday, although they also tend to work Saturday mornings. Exceptionally can work weekends, if students have performances. Likewise,teachers may organise additional seminars and classes during holiday periods. The work load tends to be more intensive in the afternoon and weekends, particularly at private centres, although they also teach in the morning. In general, the working week is 37 to 40 hours, of which 70 to 80% are teaching hours and 20 to 30% other activities.
