The trainer of vocational programmes is responsible for providing educational and vocational training courses in the field of knowledge in which he/she specialises. The aim of this training is to facilitate the incorporation of the people who receive it into the labour market or to enable them to continue studying within the regulated education system.

This professional can exercise his/her profession through courses in approved centres of official institutions, such as the Catalan Employment Service (SOC), but he/she can also undertake training in employment promotion programmes such as trade schools, workshop schools, employment schemes, etc.

• The tasks of the trainer of vocational programmes are as follows:
  - Programming training actions, defining the objectives of the courses and establishing their timing.
  - Preparing the training material: contents, examples and exercises, suitable for the audience attending the training, which may be unemployed people, employed people, young people, people over 45 years old, etc.
  - Deliver and dynamise training of small groups, between 10 and 20 people.
  - Resolving the doubts of the students regarding the subject taught, both in class hours and in the hours set for tutoring sessions.
  - Combine the training tasks with those of professional orientation and personalised tutoring with the aim of improving the students' labour insertion.
  - Keeping track of training attendance and collecting the evaluation questionnaires completed by the trainees.
  - Evaluate the level of qualification achieved by the trainees.
  - Evaluate in retrospect the suitability of the training carried out.
  - Draw up reports on the development of the training that reflect the evaluation elements mentioned in the previous points.
  - Make proposals for the improvement of the training taking into account the results of the evaluations carried out.

Regulated training and graduates

The minimum formal education required to convey vocational training courses is either a degree and/or a formative cycle in the specific subject or to be in possesion of the following degrees:

• Certificat de Professionalitat de la Família Serveis Socioculturals i a la comunitat: Docència de la formació professional per a l'cupació (Nivell 3)
• Grau: Educació social

• Grau: Psicologia
• Grau: Pedagogia

Complementary training

The trainer can complement his/her knowledge with complementary training related to pedagogy and social or occupational education, for example:
- Master's degree in teacher training
- Postgraduate or master's degree in social education or pedagogy.
- Occupational trainer course
- Course for trainers of trainers
- Didactic methodology course

This professional has a varied and heterogeneous target public, which includes people in a situation of vulnerability and risk of social exclusion. Therefore, it is advisable to take courses associated with the development of their interpersonal competences, for example:
- Conflict management course.
- Interpersonal communication course.
- Course on mediation.

Other specific skills

Usually at least one year of teaching experience is required, preferably specialised in the subject area of the training. Experience in information and vocational guidance is also an asset.

• Work hours

  The working day is established according to the scheduled hours of training. It is important to stress that courses sometimes take place on Saturday morning, therefore, is possible that weekend work is involved.

• Salary

  Salary range: between 18.965 and 28.424 euros annum gross. Median: 23.217 euros annum gross.
