Art therapists use art therapy to treat patients or groups. They use artistic exercises of a psychological and creative nature (for example, the creation of artistic images and objects) to diagnose and treat emotional problems and those related to self-image and personal growth. Artistic therapy can be provided through private practice or as part of institutions, as well as alongside a therapeutic team normally made up of psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, therapists and social workers.
