Description

The framing contractor is a qualified professional who carries out the different tasks related to the production, assembly and dismantling of metallic or wooden frames used to mould concrete in the construction of the structural elements of buildings that incorporate reinforced concrete. Over the second half of the 19th century, and with the arrival of reinforced concrete in construction works, the profession of framing contractor appeared. This professional is a specialist in the construction and assembly of these moulds, and initially started out as a carpenter specialised in the execution of wooden framings, most recently converting into the fitter of modular metallic rods for construction framings. The development of construction techniques, of available resources and materials and of the complexity of buildings, has induced a rise in the number of required professional specialisations in the construction industry. In this context, at present, structural reinforced concrete elements are commonly used in construction. For this reason, properly qualified framing contractors are frequently required.
