Ecological building expert

They are an architect or engineer (technician or senior technician) dedicated to the correct environmental management of construction processes. They can be involved in new construction works, restorations or demolitions. This is the person responsible for managing the different factors of the works that have an impact on the environment: raw materials and natural resources, dust, noise, gaseous or liquid emissions, impact on the land and vegetation and all aspects related to the natural environment. In both construction projects and demolitions, this is the person responsible for managing and assessing the different amounts of produced waste.

• Advise on or participate in the project (if necessary) and define the types of construction materials and processes with environmental criteria that minimise impact as regards the construction, the subsequent commissioning and the useful life of the work.
• Participate in the planning, together with the site management of the works, and ensure the most environmentally appropriate conditions for carrying out these works.
• Set out the works, taking into account the impact on the vegetation, fauna and other matters related to the environment.
• Carry out environmental quality checks on the works during the different stages (land movement, foundations, structures, facilities and finishes) with defined environmental criteria on the use of water, energy, repositioning of land, pollution and any other impact on the environment.
• Seek constructive solutions for the different problems that arise throughout the construction processes.
• Manage and assess the different waste materials generated in the construction and demolition processes.
• Advise on the granting of licences and the inspection of works in progress by the competent administration.

Environment

People who work in this field focus their professional interests on the preservation, improvement or restoration of the environment (vegetation, fauna, flora) in both built-up areas and natural spaces. Some of the activities that represent this field are the detection, analysis and control of pollutants, the carrying out of measurements and tests in relation to climatic or environmental variables and the reduction of the harmful effects of human activity on the environment. The carrying out of these activities requires knowledge of the environment, for its planning and use, and of environmental regulations.
