This professional performs his job at a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). They are responsible for coordinating and executing operations related to preventive maintenance of equipment, and for guaranteeing the smooth running of this type of facility. Candidates should have a technical background related to the field of electricity and mechanics. Ideally will have experience and knowledge of the maintenance of industrial facilities. It is worth noting that maintenance of a WWTP involves some specific characteristics in terms of its processes, in comparison to other industrial facilities. As such, some knowledge of this type of plants is essential. As well as specific maintenance tasks, this professional is also responsible for operations pertaining to the treatment and purification processes, as well as for implementing occupational risk prevention measures.

Tasks

  • Responsible for water treatment and purification processes. Responsibilities within this role include:
    • Starting up, checking and stopping unitary processes.
    • Intervene in treatment processes, performing the necessary tasks to ensure they function and are monitored properly.
    • Record data from the instruments and meters installed in line with the particular specifications of the WWTP.
    • Take representative samples of the influent and effluent.
    • Collaborate in the operations relating to the separation, treatment and removal of mud and waste.
  • Perform maintenance on plant equipment and facilities. Responsibilities within this role include:
    • Plan and implement preventive maintenance on equipment and processes, with a view to the established timescale and criteria, and recording any relevant data.
    • Detect anomalies in the functioning of mechanical and electrical equipment through the use of a maintenance plan and visual inspection.
    • To make simple adjustments and repairs on the basis of problems detected and in line with the instructions and protocols established.
  • Adopt occupational risk prevention measures. Responsibilities within this role include:
    • Detecting and classifying risks associated with the processes carried out, teams operating or waste generated in the plant.
    • Applying preventive and protective measures on the basis of risks detected.
