WWTP manager

Description

Managers of WWTP (Waste Water Treatment Plants) run operations at these plants, which may treat urban waters, industrial waste waters or from farms or other sources. People holding this job may be in charge of the maintenance of more than one plant, if they are small. There are two different methods employed for treating sewage at these plants: by physical-chemical treatment or by microbiological treatment. Only the first type is done at times, but often both are done, which somewhat conditions the functions performed in this job.

Tasks

  • Regularly analyse the affluents that enter the facility (flow, temperature, physiochemical parameters, etc.), in order to to adjust it to their characteristics and adjust reagent dosage.
  • Perform analyses on each of the depuration steps to verify that they work correctly.
  • In small installations, perform administrative tasks and monitor maintenance contracts.
  • Execute internal preventive maintenance at the installation.
  • Apply workplace hygiene and safety measures that are established in current legislation in force.
  • Manage a team of operators, if the installation is large.
