Description

Home automation consists of the application of technologies such as electronics and telecommunications in homes with the aim of automating and controlling the systems, installations and equipment related to comfort, security, communications and energy efficiency. The automation and control to which home automation refers are applied to home systems and appliances, like lighting, climate control, blinds, awnings, doors and windows, locks, sprinkler systems, household appliances or the supply of water, gas, electricity, etc. The automated home can improve the comfort and quality of life of those who live there, making it possible for them to reduce housework, enhance well-being, control and security, remotely manage the home systems and appliances, as well as streamline the different types of energy consumption. The occupation of home automation technician is specialised in jobs such as the installation of sensor equipment connected to control devices that make it possible to automate and manage the different systems and domestic appliances in the home automation systems.

Tasks

  • Organise and plan the process and mechanics of the jobs and the spaces related to work, manoeuvring, storage, loading and unloading; control the fulfilment of the plans.
  • Oversee the interferences with other works.
  • Interpret the plans and sketches of the facilities.
  • Break down the elements that must be installed or set up.
  • Carry out the measurements of the materials based on the plans or on-site, prepare budgets and manage purchases.
  • Select basic materials and equipment.
  • Assign jobs to the workers and provide them with technical advice, assisting them with their tasks.
  • Supervise the setting out of the service lines from the various final control points.
  • Conduct the zoning study on the effect of the home's climate control.
  • Manage the programming of the climate control.
  • Configure the temperature levels.
  • Select the operating mode of the climate control.
  • Programme the household appliances.
  • Organise the automation of the lighting.
  • Supervise the installation of the sensors that control the timed switching-on of lights.
  • Supervise and collaborate on the installation of sensors for intrusion detection, fire detection, presence simulation, detection of water leaks, rate control and medical alerts.
  • Programme the equipment and put the network in operation.
  • Check the maintenance and repair works of the existing systems and assist where necessary.
  • Carry out quality control.
  • Carry out maintenance operations on tools, work machines and equipment.
  • Handle the elements, tools, materials, auxiliary means and group and individual protection needed to perform all tasks.
