The site manager of building works is the person directly responsible for the material execution of the construction project. Their functions include transferring the technical information between the works manager and the different foremen and operators that oversee the execution of the various construction jobs, organising the work teams, studying the feasibility of the works and making sure the technical conditions and plans are fulfilled. The current diversification and specialisation in the construction sector, with an entire series of new occupations and specialities that are added to the traditional ones, make it necessary to have a professional that is in charge of planning and organising the different jobs and coordinating the involvement of the various professionals and industrialists that are participating in the construction process, resulting in the occupation of the site manager.

• Plan and organise the process and mechanics of the tasks involved in the works.
• Organise the spaces related to work, manoeuvring, storage, loading and unloading, workshops and the areas for accessing the works.
• Control and supervise the carrying out of the works.
• Control the compliance with the plans.
• Interpret the plans and set out the work units.
• Organise and control the work groups; assign tasks to the workers.
• Propose procedures, materials and techniques for carrying out the works.
• Provide technical advice to the workers.
• Coordinate the works of various industrialists and subcontractors.
• Receive and organise the materials, stocking areas, workshops, etc.
• Carry out the material and measurement calculations of the completed works.
• Control the fulfilment of the health and safety plan and of the occupational risk prevention standards.
• Control the materials, resources and machinery of the works.
• Supervise and verify the processes and results of the tasks.
• Control the quality of the completed job items.
• Assume the technical relationship with the site and works management.
