Architectural restorers recover the original condition of continuous covering surfaces using pigmented lime mortar, applying different techniques to achieve the required protection and aesthetics and reproducing specific geometric patterns, designs and details. Often faades, inner courtyards, staircases and other elements on buildings are covered with several layers of lime mortar, with the double mission of protection and aesthetics, representing different design motifs that make reference to the activity of the building or they can simply be decorative. The march of time, the use of the building, pollution, weather and, sometimes, malicious use all cause different pathologies that damage the covering, making the work of a professional necessary who can recover the original characteristics, both with respect to the mortar and colouring and the application and finish techniques. These professionals are particularly needed for details of faades, such as those found on balconies, picture windows, corners and walls, which imbue the construction with originality.

• According to the project and indications in the technical specifications, analyse all materials in detail: composition, dosage and pigmentation, the thickness of the different layers, the geometry or, where applicable, the figurative design, with the corresponding reliefs.
• After taking all the data needed to replace them, properly clean the area affected by pathologies until reaching the area that guarantees suitable adherence.
• Spread on the successive layers with the pre-established dosages and the corresponding colouring and thickness.
• Reproduce the original design using the drawing obtained before the cleaning, using packing paper or similar, transferred by dots.
• Empty, with the help of the appropriate tools, the part of the material corresponding to the drawing relief according to the different layers.
• Make the plastered or rough finish, as applicable in each case.
