Description

This professional is involved in the operational and maintenance phases relating to electrical infrastructures. Their task is to manage and oversee the assembly and maintenance of the devices and machines used in electrical substations, operating and performing first-level maintenance on them, guaranteeing they function properly, optimising the resources available, and complying with established quality and security specifications in relation to people, the environment and the facilities. This technician works for companies connected with the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power, or which have high-voltage installations, as well as in industrial companies that perform assembly and maintenance work in electrical substations.

Tasks

  • Manage and supervise the installation of electrical substations. Responsibilities within this role include:
    - Planning the installation tasks through the building plan established for the project. This entails defining the sequence of operations to be carried out and drawing up a timeline plotting these.
    - Coordinating the plan for the supply of materials, together with the erection plan. You will be responsible for guaranteeing that the materials required are available throughout every stage of the installation process.
    - Organising and supervising the various phases of the installation, including the placement of structures, materials and equipment.
    - Supervising the commissioning of the electrical substations and conducting performance and security tests.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical substation. Responsibilities within this role include:
    - Conducting coordinated operations on the equipment alongside the heads of the control centre. Secondary tasks such as monitoring and adjusting telecontrol systems, overseeing the connecting and disconnecting to and from the grid, and activation or switching off of equipment, amongst others, are also included.
    - Organising and supervising preventive and corrective maintenance, establishing working groups and delegating tasks. Recording data obtained and producing regular analyses recording incidents and proposing improvements aimed at resolving them.
    - Identifying and evaluate potential risks. Control risks detected, in line with the security protocol. Can also occasionally involve collaborating on the drafting of risk prevention plans.
