These professionals often work in large engineering companies specialised in the management and generation of water and in the construction of environmental infrastructures. Their mission consists in making possible the construction of new desalination plants, leading the project and supervising all phases from the design of facilities to their commissioning. This is a role that requires considerable collaborative work; commuication with the managers of each of the phases as well as external agents. Equally, in many cases, he/she will be required to manage personnel teams under his/her responsibility.


  • Responsible for the planning and coordination of the commissioning of desalination plants in order to obtain the relevant handover certificate.
  • Guarantee deadlines, quality and operation in the different phases of the project, from commencement to installation. In this way, he/she will be required to move around on site up until the completion of tasks.
  • Establish project parameters, determining specifications and requirements, both in terms of materials and human capital, and at a quantitative and qualitative level.
  • Select subcontractors and enter into dialogue with the customer, those responsible for works, and other parties involved. Organise follow-up meetings and take responsibility that all those involved thoroughly understand their roles.
  • Manage the commissioning team. Supervise work, and where applicable, produce performance reports of workers.
  • Plan and monitor the commissioning. During the follow-up, documents all the process, registers incidences, assess problems that emerge and propose improvements for their resolution.
  • Take responsibility for the implementation of improvements where problems are encountered during commissioning.
  • Carry out training of the technical team on occasions.
