Description

Floor laying is a specialist occupation involving the preparation, redesign and discontinuous coasting of horizontal faces and pavements, using various materials and techniques. Traditionally, the placement of discontinuous coating on vertical faces (tiled) and pavements of buildings involves the labour of various operatives (especially builders). However, the great technical and technological evolution of the last few years has introduced new and diverse coating and placement materials and, with them, new techniques, application systems, with a consequent rise in the level of required specialisation in operators that carry out works - a situation conducive to the appearance of the occupation of floor layer.

Tasks

  • Study the area or face that has to be covered or paved, on the project or graphical documentation, prior to starting work.
  • Prepare the working area and organise the environment, determine and prepare materials, tools, machines, utensils, auxiliary resources and necessary personal and collective protective equipment.
  • Prepare the area or face that is to be tiled or paved, adapting conditions of cleanliness, humidity, regularity, tiling, etc.
  • Carry out screed plastering to hold tiles in place.
  • Redefine the tiling or paving to be undertaken via measurement operations and elevation localisation, tracing lines, levelling and plumbing, placement of rulers, main lines, modulation and distribution.
  • Place different thin-layer tile or plating types, with adhesive mortars in order to complete the coating of faces.
  • Carry out thin-layer tile paving with adhesive mortars.
  • Complete the "laying" of different types of intermittent pavings, using C.P., mixed and special mortars.
  • Place different types of intermittent pavings.
  • Mechanise different types of coverings to adjust them to the geometry and tiling and paving obstacles (built-in boxes, sockets, outflows, drains, etc.)
  • Place boxes and built-in boxes for electrical installations.
  • Place paving perimeter skirting boards .
  • Complete finishing works and tile joints, paving and skirting boards.
