Description

This person oversees the design and strategic planning of pest prevention and eradication activities in recreational areas, forests, urban spaces, etc. A pest is set of living beings that, due to their abundance or characteristics, can cause nuisances, health problems or financial problems for people. The traditional methods to fight them have always been based on chemicals, which cause many secondary problems related to toxicity. The main goal of comprehensive pest control is to control the species that are harmful for man, keeping them under the tolerance threshold through the control and correction of the environmental factors that cause them to appear. In this way, the use of chemical products can be reduced or even eliminated. The main goal of the expert in comprehensive pest control systems is to protect human health, with the least aggressive methods possible.

Tasks

  • Carry out a prior diagnosis of the problem and, based on this, select the most suitable method taking into account, amongst others factors, the type, its distribution, space characteristics, etc.
  • Prepare the action protocols, giving priority to physical, biological and mechanic control and to the most specific pesticides that are least dangerous for human health and the environment.
  • Oversee the internal training for action protocols, biological control techniques and product doses, transport, storage, health and safety, etc.
