Drywall element fitter; Drywall panel installer; Plasterboard installer.

Description

Drywall panel installers are responsible for organising matters on site and for carrying out the various tasks required by the construction of elements such as partition walls, false ceilings, divisions between houses, shelves and furniture made out of drywall, by applying different construction techniques.

These drywall panels are made up of two sheets of cellulose and one sheet of plaster, water and additives, and are available in various formats. They have been made and been available on the market for more than decades.

The demands of current trends in architecture and construction, in terms of modularity, economic optimisation and execution, have served to boost the implementation of drywall in construction, given the wide range of options it offers and the relative speed and cheapness with which it can be executed in comparison to traditional masonry techniques.

Tasks

  • Starting by studying the plan or the graphic documentation relating to the elements to be executed, prepare the site, organise the surroundings and select and prepare the materials, tools, accessories and auxiliary equipment needed.
  • Prepare, check, use and conserve the necessary individual and collective protection equipment or tools in order to guarantee work is executed safely.
  • Examine the elements to be built: levelling, vertical alignment, setting out of levels, distribution and modulation of elements, plotting of perpendicular walls, alignment, etc.
  • Assemble the metallic structure for the drywall element to be built.
  • Install thermal and acoustic insulation.
  • Cut panels, place in and fix to the structure to form different drywall elements: partition walls, false ceilings, wall linings, divisions between houses, shelves, furniture, drawers, niches, etc.
  • Install frames for doors, windows, hatches, etc.
  • Tape and putty the joints between panels.
  • Install elements for installations: pipes, electrical boxes, junction boxes, etc.
  • Carry out a range of repair and maintenance tasks on walls.
