Description

These professionals manage the tourist services offered in a municipality. As suggested by the name, this role is performed in close association with the local public administration (town council). Municipal tourism technicians are responsible for developing tourism promotion programmes in the area, as well as dealing with and coordinating the various public and private organisations associated with this activity within the municipality.

Tasks

  • Design and develop the municipality's Tourism Master Plan.
  • Devise tourist activities for the municipality.
  • Devise tourist activities for the municipality.
  • Establish the municipality's foreign promotion event and action schedule.
  • Manage Tourist Offices in the municipality.
  • Coordinate the municipality's marketing programme.
  • Participate in presentations of products and publicly organised activities, and provide support for private products and tourism companies in the municipality.
  • Coordinate the interdeparmental committees (environment, culture, finance) that are formed to serve tourists during peak periods.
  • Deal with visitors at Tourist Offices.
  • Coordinate events that involve stays or activities in the municipality.
  • Lead familiarisation and press trips for travel agencies and specialised journalists.
