Description

These professionals organise, bring together and coordinate the implementation of tourist activities in rural areas with the aim of achieving sustainable development in the area. Their skills include promoting and 'selling' the rural area in which they work.
These professionals control an offer characterised by small dispersed business units (country houses and adjoining buildings).

Tasks

These professionals carry out the following tasks:
  • Collect information and update job-specific skills
    Ensure that they have an in-depth knowledge of the rural environment of which they work: the people, history, culture and traditions, as well as possible links with nearby areas.
    Their sources of information are personal contact, existing specific bibliography, and studies in various areas, including economics, sector-specific and those related to the planning and development of the area.
  • Organise and coordinate the actions to be carried out to promote this area.
    Set the target public and the objectives, guidelines and models of business and tourist development, considering the criteria of environmental sustainability.
    Create a tourist product for this rural location, characterised by a standardised brand that sets it apart.
  • Execute actions to promote and sell tourist products,
    Manage the necessary processes in order to obtain the Q standard, which designates quality tourism products, services and establishments.
    Organise joint sales and promotion mechanisms.
    Track promotion results.
    Manage investment in infrastructure (roads, paths, rebuilding of housing, etc.) and grants or loans for small businessmen.
