Biotechnology project leader

Description

Project management involves tactical and operational planning, execution and control -from the initial idea until completion-, reviewing the achievement of objectives, and management of deviations sustained. The aim is to reach the goal agreed with management and to ensure that results match relevant quality levels, timing and costs initially planned. Project managers are professionals who manage projects. They are responsible for planning, managing and executing an assigned project. They can develop internal projects within their organisation or projects with external agents outside the organisation, with the aim of generating a value, product, service or particular technology. Project managers should have a clear technical and scientific profile, project management skills, communication skills and leadership abilities.

Tasks

  • Hold utmost responsibility for the technical, economic and quality-related feasibility of the project.
  • Plan, seek and agree with management the resources necessary to carry out the project.
  • Coordinate and oversee research and development projects under their responsibility, whether entirely within the company or institution or in collaboration with external companies/institutions. In the latter case, work in conjuntion with the project manager assigned by the other company or institution.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of the project, detect deviations, perform risk analyses and propose corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work teams assigned to the project, whether internal, external or subcontracted.
  • Act as a liaison between external agents like institutions, clients and/or suppliers.
  • Identify and manage sources of public and/or private funding.
