Statistician

In the research and development process, experiments are conducted (preclinical and clinical, in the case of medicines, or biological or for the improvement of plant species, etc.) in which the design of the experiment and the processing of the obtained data are critical for ensuring the reliability of the results. The biostatistician is dedicated to designing the experiments and analysing the results. They collaborate in multidisciplinary teams with the researchers and bioinformatics engineers in order to refine the generated data.

• Define the design and type of statistical analysis necessary, according to the hypotheses generated by the researcher, in order to ensure the most suitable statistical processing.
• On the basis of the obtained results, deduce the relevant conclusions from the analysis and prepare statistical reports.
• Support the medical writer or principal researcher, providing them with the results obtained from the analysis.
• Manage the databases.
• Stay up-to-date with the new statistical approaches and new developments in bioinformatics, and attend specific technical courses and seminars.
