Description

Publishing agents must always be up to date about trends and new features in the publishing market and they must take decisions about the route that the different publishing lines in the company should follow. Their work consists of detecting market niches that are worth focusing on and discovering where the opportunities are for the publishing industry. They must also look for new subject matters and new authors so that the company for which they work has the best opportunities. Publishing agents are key figures in sectoral firms.

Tasks

  • Stay up to date about editorial market trends.
  • Identify future markets and new products.
  • Develop ideas for books and identify suitable authors.
  • Prepare proposals for future publications, including expenses, expected sales, profits, etc.
  • Travel to book trade fairs to be up to date.
  • Look for new authors.
  • Search for publications in other languages to translate and publish in Catalan and Spanish.
