Description

Scene shifters do their work behind the scenes, with props, scenography, audiovisual and lighting effects. Their job is very relevant in producing the show, as they must know exactly where and when to move objects, stages, scenery, etc.

Tasks

  • Meet with the artistic director, scenographer and technical director.
  • Must coordinate with lighting and sound operators and carpenters.
  • Load and unload equipment.
  • Help carpenters to build and mount the stage.
  • Attend rehearsals to become familiar with all scene changes, changes in sets, in furniture or machinery during the performance.
  • Open and close the curtains during the show.
  • Control and manage stage movement mechanisms.
  • Keep the stage and backstage clean after each performance.
  • Do repair and maintenance of equipment.
