Description

The profile of the transport and logistic services agent in a transport company or logistics operator is that of the professional responsible for marketing company services and seeking new customers. For this reason, they must have in-depth knowledge of this market, the different products available, the potential customer's needs and how they can be satisfied. They usually work under the supervision of sales management, or in the case of small businesses, reporting directly to the general director or management. They work with a considerable degree of freedom to establish trade relationships with customers and obtain signatures on a contract for provision of services. Once the contract is signed, and during its validity, this person follows-up customer relationships, attempting to attend to and satisfy their needs and making regular scheduled visits.

Tasks

  • Responsible for seeking new clients for the company, offering them its catalog of products or services. This usually involves establishing a schedule of visits to companies that are potential clients. These visits may be programmed.
  • Sell specific products and services to companies providing logistic services. Define contractual frames, determining the service level, quality ratio and cost breakdown. its revision and possible modification for a long-term commercial relationship.
  • Keep a record of visits made and data collected from customers, offers presented to them, and adding the information available in the system used by the company.
  • Periodically assess the solvency of the company's clients and the risk of operations, to ensure payment collection.
  • Advise customers and potential customers about the best solutions and services that adapt to their needs.
  • Draft budgets for each customer and manage the negotiation to achieve a trading margin in keeping with corporate goals.
  • Control and follow-up the business account of assigned customers, maintain the data updated, and prepare management reports based on this data.
  • Keep a record of incidents with each customer and report them to management.
  • Study the competition and, where applicable, make proposals to improve the competitiveness of the company.
